📢 Bungie is not disabling Trials of Osiris due to the current issue.
“We’re aware of an issue that allows specific weapon perks to be crafted into other legendary weapons and are investigating a fix, which will result in these weapons being reset in the future. We currently don’t have any plans to disable Trials of Osiris due to this issue.” -BungieHelp

Improvements for Essence Drops
Improvements to Essence drops are coming for next week with Update 7.2.0.4.
- First weekly clear grants two Essences: one for Crota and one for completing encounters
- Repeat full clears offer extra guaranteed Essences.
- Increased random Essence drop rate on repeated clears.
- One run has a chance to grant all Necrochasm quest and catalyst Essences.
Raid Challenges & Master Difficulty
Weekly raid challenges (one per week) and Master difficulty for Crota’s End raid release next week.
- Complete weekly challenges for extra rewards.
- Master difficulty offers increased challenge, stat-focused armor drops, and Adept weapons with improved perks.
Adept weapons work on a knockout system – you’ll get one per encounter until you have them all.
Checkmate
Checkmate arrives next week for a six-week period. These variants cycle every two weeks:
- ⚔️ Checkmate Control
- ⚔️ Checkmate Survival
- ⚔️ Checkmate Rumble
Note: Checkmate is not a game mode, but a modifier to some game modes.
“So, let’s get acquainted with Checkmate. With this modifier, players have a small bump in health, which adjusts the time-to-kill. This is largely to give players a little more time when dueling to make an extra decision or two. Because of this, Checkmate has been tuned for this more strategic gameplay, and wherever necessary, certain weapons have been adjusted to maintain their iconic Destiny 2 action game feel.
To further increase the importance of your decision making, we reduced the passive regeneration times for grenade, melee, and class abilities by 50% and reduced the passive regeneration rate for Supers by 40%.
The biggest change in Checkmate, however, is that you do not spawn with Special ammo. Instead, you earn it by generating points from kills, assists, deaths, zone captures, and gathering Heavy ammo. You won’t lose points accumulated on death, and the Special ammo you earn persists through lives and rounds. Additionally, you do not drop your Special ammo on death.
The goal with Checkmate is to provide a game mode that encourages and rewards solid decision making and gunplay skills, while still being the Destiny 2 you know today.”
Tribute Game Mode
Tribute Game Mode
A new Iron Banner mode called Tribute (Supremacy-based mode) goes live in Season 23.
“Tribute is a Supremacy-based mode, where players will be able to deposit Crests at tribute stations to earn points for their team. Banking many Crests at once can trigger a Hunt phase, which activates a special tribute station and increases the value of all Crests deposited for one minute of gloriously chaotic gameplay. Take care, as other Guardians won’t be the only things guarding these high-value tribute stations. Caiatl will be watching, Guardians, so let’s show her what you’re made of!”
Sandbox Changes
Coming later in Season 22
- Antaeus Wards: Now, using your full class ability energy to reflect damage depletes it. This change aims to shorten the Exotic’s duration and limit compatibility with Juggernaut’s shield.
- Young Ahamkara’s Spine: Less impact on grenade uptime: grants energy on final blows, not damage.
Season 23
- Submachine Guns: We will globally increase the recoil on SMGs to make it a more significant tradeoff when choosing between range and stability.
- Sniper Rifles: A body shot nerf will be implemented in the Crucible, with more details coming soon. However, Sniper Rifles will receive a damage buff in PvE to balance this change.
- Fusion Rifles: We will reduce the Kickstart damage bonus, and there will be a more noticeable damage drop-off at longer ranges.
- Airborne Effectiveness: The airborne accuracy of Sniper Rifles and Slug Shotguns will be enhanced to match the pre-Airborne Effectiveness (AE) Icarus performance at their base values.
- Peregrine Greaves
- Now provide bonus shoulder charge damage when airborne briefly to maintain the Exotic’s visibility requirement.
- In PvE, these now deal extra damage and replenish your melee charge when used against Champions, Tormentors, and mini-bosses.
- Synthoceps
- Removed lunge range, added better weapon handling and faster reloads when surrounded.
- Also, partially reversing the Glaive melee damage reduction.
- Plus more Exotic armor updates in Season 23.
