Mid-Season Update
The Mid-Season Update is coming July 18. Here is a preview of what’s coming.
Crucible
- Fixed a few out of bounds spots in various maps.
- Whisper of Chains
- Reduced damage reduction in PvP from 15% to 5%.
NOTE: In the first hotfix following the mid-Season patch (next week), Bungie will increase the impact of enemy player sightlines and proximity back to their previous levels. Their goal is to retain some advantages, such as spawning closer to active engagements, while avoiding the disadvantages of spawning in the middle of a fight.
Archetypes
- Pulse Rifles: Reduced auto aim angle by ~10% at 0 Aim Assist.
- Lightweight Bows: Increased falloff start distance from 15m to 25m, end distance from 20m to 45m, and final accuracy by ~10%.
- General: Improved Shayura’s Wrath ADS reticle.
- Lightweight Shotguns: Reduced outer horizontal pellet spread angle by 15%.
Graviton Lance changes
- PvE damage increase by 67%.
- The catalyst no longer grants additional aim assist.
- Cosmology explosion damage against players has been reduced by 40%.
- Damage in PvE remains unaffected.
No Time to Explain
- Reduced range stat by 10.
Fighting Lion
- Fixed catalyst issue, now applies buffs to Kinetic and Power slot weapons.
📰 Future Updates

Wicked Implement
- Buff coming in a future update.
Competitive Division Matchmaking
A few changes are we considering for a future season:
- Adjusting the rank → skill limiting so that it doesn’t limit at all if you are above your target skill.
- Loosening up on the division points throttling we do if you are too far above/below your target skill.
Dynamic Skill Ranges
Bungie provided an update on Dynamic Skill Ranges, a feature previously mentioned in a TWAB. The feature aims to balance matchmaking during low population times or in low skill brackets. Although encountering issues during its initial activation in Season 19, Bungie is actively fixing the bugs and conducting extensive testing. The plan is to reintroduce it in a future season. Stay tuned for more leading up to Season 22.

“In Season 22, we have a substantial shakeup coming to the weapons sandbox in the form of zoom. We will have more details to share closer to release, but we want to briefly touch on what’s going to happen at a high-level.
The initial changes are going to enforce something we’re calling range compression, with two main goals:
- Reduce the variance between the optimal engagement ranges of our mid-range weapons (Auto Rifles, Pulse Rifles, and Hand Cannons).
- Slightly reduce the average engagement range in Crucible by pulling in the maximum damage falloff distances of many weapon types.”

ADS DAMAGE FALLOFF START DISTANCES (0 – 100 RANGE STAT)
Primary Weapon Type | Old Base Zoom | Old Base + Rangefinder | New Base ADS Modifier |
Sidearms | 13.20 – 16.80 | 14.30 – 18.20 | 13.20 – 18.00 |
SMGs | 12.60 – 22.40 | 13.86 – 24.64 | 14.42 – 23.52 |
Auto Rifles* | 17.20 – 33.20 | 18.92 – 36.52 | 18.28 – 39.53 |
Hand Cannons | 22.40 – 35.00 | 24.64 – 38.50 | 24.00 – 37.50 |
Pulse Rifles | 25.50 – 39.10 | 28.05 – 43.01 | 25.50 – 39.95 |
Aggressive Hand Cannons | 25.20 – 39.20 | 27.72 – 43.12 | 27.00 – 40.50 |
Lightweight Bows | 45.00 | 49.50 | 45.00 |
Precision Bows | 54.00 | 59.40 | 54.00 |
Scout Rifles | 60.00 – 90.00 | 66.00 – 99.00 | 60.00 – 90.00 |
*Note: Auto Rifles have the widest variance in available zoom values in the current live game, between 16 and 20 base. For the purposes of the above chart 16 zoom was used as the base value since it is the most prevalent, but 20 zoom ARs were reaching 41.5m at 100 range.
Other things to look forward to in Season 22:
- Hand Cannons in PvE will be improved with faster reload speed and increased damage against minor and major enemies.
- Sword guard will undergo a significant overhaul.
- Some Exotics, like Le Monarque, will be balanced, and Touch of Malice will receive significant buffs.
- Weapon perks like Bipod, Envious Assassin, and Under-Over will be buffed.

Emblem Ownership Reminder
Starting with Season of the Deep, players can only equip emblems found in their Collections. Hidden emblems must be reacquired. Pre-order and Collector’s Edition emblems are platform-specific. Existing emblem unlocks are not affected.
More Details
“Starting with the launch of Season of the Deep, emblem ownership values were updated. For security purposes, players who have emblems on their account that do not appear in their Collections (Collections-Flair-Emblems-General) will no longer be able to equip these emblems, and players will no longer be able to see these emblems if they are still equipped. Those who are affected by this change will need to reacquire these emblems through proper means by unlocking them in their Bungie.net profiles or on their platform if they wish to continue using them.
Additionally, pre-order and Collector’s Edition-specific emblems will be restricted to use on the platform that owns those licenses. If you acquired one of these emblems on one platform but are now playing on another platform, you must play on the original platform to use these emblems.
Players who have emblems unlocked on their Bungie.net accounts and platforms are unaffected by this change.”
