About

Onslaught, the new 3-player wave-based mode introduced with Into the Light, offers various difficulty levels, including a casual playlist mode and a more challenging Legend mode. While the playlist mode features matchmaking, Legend mode does not.

The primary objective is to defend the Advanced Defense Unit (ADU) against attacking enemy waves and ultimately confront the boss aboard the Pyramid ship (on the 10th wave). If the ADU is destroyed at any point, the match ends, regardless of difficulty.

Each location defense consists of ten waves, with Legend mode extending up to 50 waves (5 sets of 10). The first nine waves are organized into three-wave rounds, with each round increasing in difficulty. On the tenth wave, your fireteam will board the Pyramid ship to face the boss. Upon defeating the boss (multiple bosses available), a chest will drop, allowing you to claim your rewards.

Details

  • The ADU is what you’ll be defending throughout the activity.
  • In playlist mode, the ADU remains stationary, while in Legend mode, it moves between three different locations on the map.
  • There is no set time limit, but a timer tracks the time it took to complete.
  • Enemies drop scrap that can be used to purchase defense upgrades (for example tripwires cost 1000 scrap).
  • Available upgrades include tripwires, decoys (sweeper bot), and turrets, all of which can be upgraded up to 3 levels for increased effectiveness and added effects.
  • High Value Targets (Mini-bosses) and Elites, known as Saboteurs, drop repair batteries required to repair the ADU.
  • Occasionally, Bonus Objectives will appear in waves, presenting tasks such as completing the wave within a time limit.
    • Completion of these objectives rewards a heavy ammo crate, allowing your team to refill their heavy ammo.

Scrap

Scrap is a material used to purchase defense upgrades and drops from defeating enemies.

Defense Upgrades

In the purchase phase, you get 30 seconds to select upgrades. The cost of defense upgrades rises with each upgrade. Each defense upgrade can be leveled up three times, and they change color as they grow stronger. If a defense gets destroyed, you’ll need to repurchase it at level 1.

  • Tripwire
  • Decoy (Sweeper Bot)
  • Turrets

Bonus Objectives

Bonus objectives occasionally appear within waves, like the ‘Speed Wave,’ where you must complete the wave within a specified time limit.

Reward: Heavy ammo crate to refill heavy ammo

The ship remains there for “A Guardian Rises,” so you can skip later if you want.
